A Week to Remember

Judging from my title (and my melancholic background), you knew what i mean, right?
Yeah, there is ONE WEEK LEFT before my departure. That is SEVEN little days, ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY EIGHT hours, at most. That means, every day i spent here starting today will be my LAST of the week, last Monday, last Tuesday, etc. Phew, i kinda get really melancholic right now. Usually what i do during my university weeks are schooling (Monday-Thursday) and having fun in the city (Friday-Sunday), but starting holiday, it’s all about having fun. And yet, i usually go to PDKKI’s prayer meeting every Saturday (Which ended two weeks ago), Mudika’s mass every first saturday, LATUF’s Frisbee Training every Tuesday, and other routines. But, it will all end soon.

Honestly, i am VERY AFRAID of what will happen back at Indonesia. Frankly speaking, the life here has been very easy. I haven’t got many racism attack or racially offended (if there’s any); i have a great laid-back life; including a very punctual but relaxed lifestyle; better safety, especially with the dependable police forces (well, i have to exclude those weekends, since clubbers and drunkards are everywhere. But, still quite safe); Everything seems to be in order. One best experience i had is the job i’ve done in a cellular shop here. Differing from Indonesia, the cellular shops here are mostly owned by the telecommunication provider. So, i worked in one of them, and got one really angry customer. There, my shop manager tried to calm him, but failed, he got even grumpier. Then, the manager tried to call the police. And then, everything’s turned down. Yeah, people here have “respect” to the police. Something we rarely see in Indonesia, i shall say.

But anyway, back to the “Last Week” thing, i dunno what to do in this last week. Because almost everyone’s busy. I don’t know who to bug or to bother, because most of my friends are back home, and i am stranded here. LOL. I am going to miss this city, that’s for sure. Hope one day i’ll return . Anyway, i wrote a song about Melbourne, and i’m going to record it, sooner or later. Till then, smell you!

I am unofficially back

Okay guys, i officially announce that i am unofficially back! Yeay! *Confetti Clattering*
Good, now that i am all set back to blogging again, i will start talking about….. NOTHING!
Don’t be disappointed (come to think of it, i think you are very happy to know that i have nothing to say), but i want to explain the reasons for not blogging for so long :

1. i was *ahem* busy studying
2. i liked twitter so much
3. i was so into perangkaum (an Indonesian version of Tribalwars)
4. i was so into facebook games (particularly : Ghost Trappers and Mafia Wars)
5. i was *hiccup* busy preparing my departure

Yep, i was busy preparing my departure, because it will be two more weeks before i finally have to leave Melbourne, the city that gave me some new friends, best friends, mates in music, job opportunity, working experience, and so much more till i don’t have the time to write it here. But yeah, i will save the tears for the moment i overjoy when i come back .

Some updates :
1. I finally got my DSLR camera, which is a used Canon 1000D, and yes, i am very euphoric about it. In 4 weeks time, i took 4000 photos. Yep, your eyes don’t trick you, FOUR THOUSAND PHOTOS. With three zeroes. Thanks

3. I moved to a place with even more people. Now i live with five guys, Stephan, Paul, Mumu, Erick, and Lionel. Tell you more about them later.
4. I am thinner. LOL

Anyway, Merry Christmas to y’all! Today is the boxing day, which is the greatest shpping event to ever happen in a year, and i spent 14 hours shopping with a miraculous amount of items bought. Two. Yep, one battery for my camera and one anti-scratch layer for my camera as well. Both combined, it barely touches sixty dollars. Thank God i’m persistent about money (no, it’s not scrooge, i call it WISE. LOL)

So, anyhow, enjoy your holiday!

Human Nature

Human Nature. Why do i suddenly take this topic as my post? I dunno. But i reckon there are some things that are “NATURALLY” human.
- We tend not to be satisfied.
Yeah, who doesn’t? Simple example, back at Indonesia, how grumpy were you if it is too hot? And how bad is your mood when it rained endlessly? When it’s hot, we want some rain, and when it’s raining, we want sun to show it’s supremacy. Don’t mention about the gloomy or cloudy condition, because even though those two are in the “middle zone”, we still complain about the humidity or the wind, or whatever. Imagine what i am experiencing right now, in Melbourne, where four seasons can happen in a day. SuperLOL
- We tend to look at the bad side, not the bright side
Okay, let’s do a test. Try to think about things you’re good at, as many as you can, in 10 seconds. Done? Now think about things you’re bad at, as many as you can, in 10 seconds as well. Done? Which is more? I am pretty sure, 80% of you reading this post will agree. The rest 20%, good on you, you have a great self-esteem. . Which one do i fall for? The first one, i shall be honest.
- We tend to love challenge, or totally against them
About challenge, it seems like there is no “grey zone”. It is either black or white. Love it, or feeling disgusted by it. Some people really loves challenge, till they think that the “death goddess” herself is a childhood friend. Freefalling from Niagara in a barrel, living in a remote island for weeks alone, swimming in antarctic, not to mention bungee jumping, which is rather “normal” compared to the other. What’s next? Jumping from Empire State Building with only a rusted umbrella? Choking yourself for 24 hours?
- We tend to stay in our comfort zone
How many of you have considered to fight your “dictator” boss? Not literally, just argue him when he really did something wrong. Not many, i guess… . Because we’re likely afraid to lose what have been our most-precious : our comfort zone. We are feeling “safe” in a way, because we know a dictator-director means he will keep on giving us a position if we keep on doing the job he gave (sometimes, sucking is necessary :p). We are afraid to move out of the box, imho

Farewell pt. 2 (?)

What day is today? 11th of October. Hmm… It means i have got through 8 months here in Australia. What does it means? It mean, i am slowly directing myself to my finish line here. Due to the Exchange student regulation in Australia, i can only be an exchange student for a year. more than that, i must decide whether i want to go home or become a permanent student here. For one reason and other, i just can’t continue my study here as a full time student, especially for the “reasonable” price.

My visa will end at 9th of February, 2010. It is exactly one year from my arrival date.
But, because my uni back at Indonesia starts faster, at January, i might be coming home to Indonesia in early Januari or end of December, just see when the flight is available. . Talking about going back to Indonesia with my friends is just very stressful. Some of them replied with a “please-don’t-go” attitude, but the others are just like “finally-you-said-it” and “let-melbourne-be-happy-now” attitude. But anyway, both are still stressful to me .

In fact, there are lots of people that i will miss here, including but not limited to :
- my teammates from “the 9th team” and “LATUF”
- my KILaT (Komunitas Indonesia La Trobe) friends
- my housemates and ex housemates
- my neighbors
- my church family from PDKKI and Mudika Melbourne
- my partners in crime
- my classmates
- anyone else i can not manage to remember to mention

I will also miss a lot of activities, such as playing Ultimate Frisbee, Midnight Lab Sessions (yeah, assignment is what i am talking about here :p), those stupid-but-heavy chatters with my partner-in-crime, those PD night with PDKKI, those masses with Mudika Melbourne, and lots of things.

After going back to Indonesia, will all be the same? i don’t know. I simply don’t know. I don’t even know if i want to go back here for my postgrad study.

Postgrad study, now that’s a topic. I will talk about this in my next post. But for now, i have a lot of assignments to do, and i have stolen enough time to write this blog post, haha.. That is one of the reason i haven’t blogged for some time already. So, altogether with this post, i want to say “i am back to blogosphere…”

Kanye ruins Taylor Moment, and Beyonce saved the day

Yeah, for those who still doesn’t know, go google it. No, just kidding. The main story about these three people is : Taylor Swift won the MTV award for “Best Female Video Award”, and in her winning speech, comes this Kanye, saying things like “i am happy for you that you won, but Beyonce has the best video of all time”. And then Taylor lost her words, and went down without even finishing her speech. So, what about Beyonce? As what people had known, she won the “Best Video Award”, and she gave a short speech. The angel part came after that, where she suddenly call back upon Taylor, to let her have her robbed moment.

Okay, that was the brief explanation. Now comes my rant. lol.
First, on Taylor :
- why don’t you fight back? Why do you let your microphone get taken away? That was your moment, miss. If i am in front of thousands of people, and being recorded, as well as sent by live feed all over the world while doing a one-minute-speech, and there is this one offensive looking guy wants to take my mic, i will definitely try to hold on it, and if he insists, a punch may land somewhere. Well, in her case, it’s a SHE against HE, so we can’t blame her. Anyway, Taylor Swift is just soooo sweet and beautiful. She doesn’t suit my “punching” part. :)
Then, on Kanye :
- What the hell are you thinking, dude? If you just waited for some time, you would have known that they saved the best for the last. I adore Beyonce, her videos are ass-kicking. And the judges agree with you (and me), they choose Beyonce for the Best Video Award. Now what you got? Rants from people like me. :D
Last, on Beyonce :
- you rock, maam. Just one question, don’t you feel bad for your fans? They are waiting for your speech, and what you did is give it away to Taylor. Nice move, though, you’re an angel. Literally. :P
